Bedtime Podcasts May be the Secret to Better Sleep

I fully endorse podcasts. Not only do I frequently listen to a wide range of podcast shows, but I also host my own health and fitness podcast – Health, Wellness, & Restoration. And while most of us have outgrown bedtime stories, bedtime story podcasts resemble the comforting effects of our favorite childhood tales while utilizing intentional calming techniques that quiet the noise that’s come to define “adulting.”

You don’t need me to explain how conditions like stress, depression, and anxiety substantially alter the quality and quantity of your sleep. The main reason being, feelings of worry, stress, and loneliness tend to overstimulate your sympathetic nervous system.

Staying indoors for prolonged periods of time, such as those we all experienced in 2020, also play a key role in sleep trouble because reduced exposure to the sun can mess with your circadian rhythm, which makes falling and staying asleep more difficult.

Moreover, a decrease in socialization means you have blended the lines between your waking hours and sleep schedule, thus your brain often has trouble switching off. This leads to you staying up and going to bed later, which ultimately destroys your sleep patterns.

Fortunately, you’re not destined to endless, sleepless nights. In fact, bedtime story podcasts are one potential tool that can help mitigate sleep challenges.
