These Are The Benefits of Being Single

Despite what society would have you believe, there are many benefits of not being in a romantically-attached relationship. In fact, by not being committed to someone else you have more time to focus on yourself. Being single is an opportunity to connect deeply with yourself and find purpose and fulfillment in your life. Single people, as well as people in committed relationships, are happiest when they appreciate what they have and are engaged in a meaningful existence. Having said that, the key to thriving while being single is to train your focus on the following.

Developing and Maintaining Close Relationships

Most people find great satisfaction in contriving deep, meaningful, close relationships with other people. But not all relationships require a romantic partner. As a single person, you have the chance to devote yourself to connecting with friends and family. In addition, you have more time to foster a connection with people in your community and place of business.

Pursuing Self-Development

While a committed romantic relationship is a wonderful thing to be desired, they require a significant investment of time and energy. When you’re single, you can use your resources to invest in yourself. Personal growth is a noble endeavor. Whether you desire to explore your hobbies and interests or simply learn something new, it’s easier to do so when you’re not constantly focused on someone else.

Furthermore, if you are interested in a committed relationship, having a stronger sense of self can enhance your ability to collaborate with your partner in developing a shared life together.

Following Your Passions

As a single individual, you don’t have to burden yourself with the needs/wants of another person. Rather, you are free to pour all of yourself into any pursuit that you feel passionate about.

Finding Ways to Give Back

While discovering new passions and pursuits are worthy efforts, they are self-serving. Though you may not be in a committed relationship, you need to find creative ways to give to others. Many people find fulfillment in giving back. Whether you choose to donate to a local charity or volunteer at a local food pantry, it truly is better to give than to receive.

Becoming Self-Reliant

One of the biggest perks of being single is learning how to do more for yourself. Being single can be empowering because it forces you to be more independent and self-reliant. In the end, when you use your time and personal resources to create the life you want, singleness can be a wonderful path.

  1. Well its about perspective. Recently looked at myself and hands down, I’m great at being single. Its time for another challenge, so want to graduate and become just as good as a ‘duo’, ‘two some’ , ‘significant other’…πŸ€”πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜„πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

    1. Great comment Donna-Luisa, and you’re right it all comes down to perspective. Some people like being single while others don’t. There are benefits to living the single life and being engaged in a couple. Both teach us valuable life lessons.
